An exceptionally hot, dry summer has everyone on edge, and the National Park Service scrambles to fill all its lookout towers. Firewatch is an adventure game developed by Campo Santo and published by the developer in partnership with Panic. Perched high atop a mountain, it’s your job to look for smoke and keep the wilderness safe.
The stuff I said up there is the full answer to this question, but, in short: "No, there aren't really multiple endings. the place where you 'stalker' has set up camp and how he tapped into your radio and intercepted your conversations with Delilah. In Firewatch, you play as a man named Henry who has retreated from his messy life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. They probably never meet again, but for that one summer, they had each other.
So from how i understand it, there are different dialogues throughout the game, depending on your choices, but that doesn't seem to resolve in multiple different endings. Henry and Delilah’s relationship isn’t meant to be forever, or blossom into a story where love overcomes all obstacles that’s never what Firewatch was about. Beyond that, we've tried to infuse the world with enough space and points of interest for it to be convincing and to stand up to player exploration and curiosity. You aren't going to be unlocking a bunch of endings or finding crafting components or doing "side quests." (All those things are great, but not what this particular game is about.) The world and game are built to support a particular story, which we did our best to tell, and to facilitate two fully-realized characters, which we did our best to outfit with enough player responsiveness to create a meaningful sense of interactivity and realism.
It is a narrative game first and foremost. Firewatch is a very lonely video game that’s all about people. If people like spending time in the game enough to play it again, I could imagine dedicating more time and energy to poking into all the corners.Īll that said, this isn't The Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age. Generally speaking, I suspect people's first playthroughs will be somewhat non-intentional. I think it would be hard to find "everything" unless you have explored the world pretty thoroughly and know your way around the map. Most of the people I've seen play through the entire game have found different instances of these things. There are also locations and things to find in the world that are not required by or even related to the main story of the story. That's one of the big things that will differentiate multiple playthroughs. There used to be a sign up for it, but folks kept stealing it.Originally posted by chrisremo:There is far more dialogue in the game than you could ever see in a single playthough, and much of that different dialogue is mutually exclusive, which means if you say one thing rather than another thing, it will affect what happens next, and you can't go back and "change what you said". Instead, you can ask Delilah where you are, and you will get a funny dialogue option:ĭelilah: "Pork Pond. Turns out, this was a researching facility made by college kids for a project they did on elks.ĭuring the middle of the game, you will come across a pond named "Pork Pond" and there won't be a sign there telling you that.
It will be about the thrid margin down, with the description of the deer reading "He was a boisterous male, with unreciprocated desire copulation." The collar you find on the dead elk has the number 3871 on it, and if you took the papers in the research tent you will see that the same number is on it. (This is the same type of collar found by the rope and cassette tape at the end of the game, right before you reach Ned's hideout) At first, when you discover it, Henry assumes that this is the place where you "stalker" has set up camp and how he tapped into your radio and intercepted your conversations with Delilah.īut this is not the case, if you decide to explore north of Brian's hideout (through the originally locked cave) you will come up on a dead elk with a tracking collar around it's neck. Near the end of the game you finially enter the huge area that has been fenced off (Wapiti Station) and discover some sort of research bunker inside of it.
